Does it matter when you plant flowers? Like what month you plant them in?

Please only actual gardeners with expertise and experience!
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersThere are different times for different plants. But as a "GENERAL" rule, and there are always exceptions is:

If seeds or a transplant- Spring after the last frost

Bulbs- Mid to late Fall.
Reply:I find that here in KZN (Rep. S A) with its temperate climate we can plant endemics any time with great success. Exotics need a bit of TLC during our drier months but if maintained on an ongoing basis they generally succeed. However, I am a firm believer in planting as near to the end of winter/ beginning spring to get the best results with flowering plants. I live in a high rainfall area so my watering bill is also contained to some extent after the first rains in spring.
Reply:depends on what plants and your plant zone
Reply:what kind of flower are you wanting to plant?
