Is it safe to plant flowers now by seeds?

It depends.

If the soil in your garden is warm enough to touch with the tender part of your wrist (without flinching) then tougher annual seed can go into the garden. Things like asters, cosmos and viola would do fine.

The ground needs to be warmer for tender annual seed such as impatiens or geraniums if you want them to germinate. They like it when the soil temps are in the low 70's or very high 60's (your soil temperature will be "roughly" 10 degrees cooler than your air temperatures.

Sow the seed fairly shallowly (barely cover it) so that the warmer day temperatures will warm it up. Deep planting in early plantings is a death sentence.

Perennial, shrub and tree seeds can be safely planted now (as long as they're not tropical versions - these should be planted indoors).
Reply:Yes. Things should go very well. Next year you can even start seeds indoors if you like. San Diego has a very long growing season. May things grow well.
Reply:Yes, why not.
Reply:It is a good time. Right when spring is coming. When it is cold and maybe the tempertatures are starting to rise, is when you should plant your flowers. Because they are seeds, you have to get them everything they need and be very gentle with themvisual arts
