Plan your annual garden so that you can replace as needed. In general, a pure annual garden is a distaster. A bulb here a chrysth. here, a rose here....

Plant low evergreen plants such as Blue Fescue, Heather, or even Dusty Miller as the focus. Purchase healthy plantings of a rich purple begonia or petunia to place in front of the Dusty Miller. Place the Heather in a line or clumps along your walkway. Directly behind them put a Marigold or the Wax Begonia plant. (The heather will flower in DEC-JAN). Behind the fescue plant a Salvia or Daylilly..

The fescue, Heather, Daylilly, and Dusty Miller are all basically annual plants (dusty is a bit of a three year gone deal). Use the seasonal Salvia, petunia, and marigold as a contrast to the established Heater, Daylilly, and Dusty Miller. Uses the petunias. I like the contrast between the whole lot by making a center mound of Rudebeckia or Daisey (same). It draws attention yet makes you see from botttom to top.

I do have a proven calender plant scheme that works from Virginia to New York if you are interested. I am at gjgjobs@yahoo.com. Good Luck and God Bless.

Bunch all the flowers, except the heather. Spread this plant to allow it to grow and flower. One pit of twelve inches by twelve inches will hold four Dusty Miller for years! Trim it to almost ground level after Thanksgiving and fert. Daylilly will do the same, except, make the hole 2' by2' and fert in the spring and fall.

Salvia with Dusty miller is outstanding. Daylilly as a background to Heather works well. Blue Fescue is a small and mounded grass plant. Petunias do well about a foot before the mound (place the Fescue on a mound), and a planting of
Reply:Sounds like you might have planted annuals.
Reply:i planted a calla lilly 3 years ago and every year it porduces lovely leaves, but it has never once flowered for me. The conditions in your area may not suit the plant, or, if you grew it from seed, it could take a couple of years for it to flower.performing arts
