When is it best to plant flowers in greenville nc is now any good and what will be good to plant?

Hi:

You don't want to plant any flowers until after your last frost. You are most likely in zone seven as I am, and our last frost date is around the eighth of April. Last year we got a late frost on Easter weekend, so many people had to cover their flowers through the cold snap. Your main goal when planting flowers in the spring is after the last scheduled frost and also when the ground temperature is warm enough.

I will link you to the gallery section of my website. There is a page on annual and perennial flowers with photos, descriptions and zones. This may give you some ideas of what to plant. I will also link you to the site map as this page has everything that is on the website. Browse through and there are tips, techniques and other articles on different styles of gardens, including a container garden. I hope this information may help you some. Good luck to you with your flowers and have a great day!

You are supposed to plant those in the fall, they bloom in the spring and die off around June or July. You could try some lilies. There are many varieties to choose from. Baptisia (sp?) and agapanthis is pretty.
Reply:The flowers that are out now at your local garden center will be the ones to put out now. Which ones you specifically need depends on soil conditions and available light in your planting space as well as your available time.
Reply:whatever you plant now is likely to get hit by a late freeze... it's too early.... our last frost date is mid April.... and if yer smart you'll wait to plant annuals until at least the first of May... all that stuff that's out at the box stores now is tempting, but it will be dangerous to your wallet if you try it..... cuz you'll have to do it again after the freeze..... patience.... hold on.... or go ahead and blow the wad on something to make you feel good NOW..... just a pot of something, maybe... not a whole bed full.....
Reply:I believe you're located in Zone 7. That means the average date of your last frost is April 15th. You are pushing your luck by trying to plant something now. If you're really suffering from cabin fever, you can try planting some flower seeds inside and then transplanting them next month.affiliate
