Can anyone suggest some plants I could grow?

It's coming up to spring, and I fancy growing some houseplants in my bedroom window, which faces west and gets lots of sun in the afternoons.

I tried growing a few sunflowers there are couple of years ago, which turned out alright. I fancy growing something else - can anyone recommend some plants / flowers that will grow nicely (for at least a few months) in my bedroom window? I know next to nothing about gardening, so they mustn't be too easy to kill...
Say

but everyone likes different plants, i personally love

Peace Lilies, Hardies, Flaming Katy (comes in several colours and grows beautiful small bunches of flowers in either red, orange, yellow or pink) the easiest to look after are cactus - you wont kill them easy !!

I would suggest you go to your nearest garden centre or a big B%26amp;Q or Hombase and go through their indoor plant section, take your time and read the labels - chose a plant that says 'Position in full sun'.

some indoor plants do not like direct sunlight and have to be kept in shade, so make sure if you are going to put this plant on a window that gets direct sunlight then pick the right one.

some tips for good plant care - when you bring the plant home, water it and let it drain. keep it in one spot and observe it during next 4-7 days, if it starts withering and dropping then there is something it doesnt like there - could be a cold draft or too much heat etc.

also always check the soil before watering. keep the top soil just moist.

good luck and enjoy your plants !!
Reply:How about some tomato plants, you can get the small indoor variety that you could grow on your windowsill, they are easy to take care of.
Reply:You can grow tomatoes one of the miniature cherry kind. They need lots of water and feed but drape around a window nicely. Chillis too.
Reply:you should try something quite simple and compact like a selection of cacti, most have quite colour-full flowers and take very little effort plus they would be ideal for your window ledge
Reply:You can't go far wrong with geraniums, streptocarpus or South African violets
Reply:I'm growing a strawberry in my window. So far, no signs of anything edible.
Reply:Orange Lillie's they are easy and very bright and pretty
