Corn plants make two kinds of what? a)seeds b)cones c)fruit d)flowers?

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy Flowersit's flowers ... the male (pollen-producing) flowers are on the tassel that appears at the top of the plant and the female flowers (the ones that will produce fruits [=seeds]) are obviously borne on the cob ... their styles are the silk that hangs out of the top of the cob.

Maize flowers are an example of imperfect flower. The tassel on top of a maize plant is male (and imperfect). Maize silks are female (and imperfect).


Each arm of each tassel bears many individual male flowers. Each of those slender silks you see at the left is the style of the corn plant's female flower.


The corn grains we eat are formed by the female flowers.
