Too many leaves - not enough flowers!?

My container planted flowers have tons of leaves but not many blooms? I have geraniums, dahlias, and impatiens. Any ideas?

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersIf you havent read "David K's" answer read it now and try some super bloom. The numbers on any type of ferterlier (10-15-10) trnslate to- green and leafy-flowers and fruit-roots and stems, so the higher the middle number, the higher numberof flowers, Super Bloom has a middle number of 55!!! And my flower bed have more flowers then leaves
Reply:Too much nitrogen fertilizer would be my guess. Do you use a high nitrogen fertilizer like miracle-gro? Might be using too high a conc. or too often. I would wonder if there is enough sun but the impatiens should bloon without much sun.
Reply:My aunt is using miracle gro...try it...her garden is full of flowers...
Reply:Try a different type of fertilizer! Miracle Grow makes one just for flowering, I used it last year and it was great!
Reply:Too many leaves and too few flowers = too much nitrogen. Stop the nitrogen, add a little superphosphate and that should get things back into balance.
Reply:Too much fertilizer and possibly too little sun.
Reply:A fertilizer high in phosphorous will promote more blooms. I prefer natural fertilizers so something like bone meal might help. There are other synthetic fertilizers that are higher in phospherous...look for something specifically for flowers.skin disease
