Best plants 2 plant in a semi shaded garden?

I have a garden that is bare at the moment. I recently pulled everything out of it.......it was dead. I need to know wot plants/flowers would grow best in a semi shaded area in the southern hemisphere at the moment. I would prefer plants that need minimal water.......(water restrictions here r high) any ideas?? thanks

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersFor Spring color, visit "White Flower Farm" online. They have a mix of Daffodils called "The Works, Southern Style" which should fit your needs, especially since shade is not an issue as much in the Spring. I've ordered from them myself many times and am always pleased with the quality. For other times of the year, try something in the succulent family, like seedum. I'd recommend using a search engine like Google, type in something like "plants for dry Southern gardens in partial shade". Good luck!!
Reply:hosta's of any kind are good for low light and low water
Reply:You could try bromeliads. They are extremely hardy and need minimal care and water. There are some great varieties around. Clivias like semi shade and also do not need much water. There are lots of succulents which would do well there and also some natives, like grevillias. These help to bring birds as well.
Reply:For part shade accent plants I love fuschias. For a ground cover try vinca. For something that likes to grow on walls and less invasive than ivy try climbing fig.
Reply:try hydranges,very hardy ,lovely flowers
Reply:Hosta's, Sedum or "Chicks %26amp; Hens"

Reply:I prefer the faux blooming facist flower and the yellow sniffing clam dowders.
