Preferrably a fruit-bearing plant. I really don't have much room on my windowsill so I was wondering if there was any fruit-bearing or flowering plants out there that are low-maintenance (I'm not a very good gardener)
Thanks
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersYou can grow small chili peppers. They make a great potted plant with lots of color and you can dry and eat the peppers. Miniature roses make a great indoor plant but not much of a fruit to eat. I love my miniatures roses. I put the dried petals in a little canola oil, let sit for about three weeks and have a great rose scented massage oil. Basil makes another gorgeous plant and there are so many varieties. Dry the leaves and you have your own basil. Cyclamen does well indoors and makes continuous lovely flowers as long as you keep clipping off the dead ones. All of these plants are low maintenance. None of them will die if you neglect them for awhile.
Reply:Make sure if you get peppers that you get an edible variety. There are some that are strictly ornamental unless ornamental is what you want. Report It
Reply:an african violet...they have very soft leaves a have pretty little flowers that bloom through the year...u only water them a lilttle bit just barely moistening the soil without getting it on the leaves...if watered right they will live for many many years...my mamaw has one thats like 15 years old...she inheirited it from my granny and they dont have to have big pots either
Reply:Have to say cacti. :)
Many will bloom without extra care and there are so many to choose from. Also, you can find kinds that will bloom several times a year as well as in the winter.
Some VERY easy types with great flowers:
-Epiphyllum
-Christmas or Holiday cacti
-Echinopsis
-Rebutia
Just perform a search in Yahoo images or Flickr. That will give you a good idea of the colors and sizes ect...
Reply:try a dwarf lemon.
they grow only 3 -5 feet tall and flower at 3 feet. look on http://www.amazon.com and type in dwarf lemon.
also the bloosoms make the room smell like lemon!
Reply:Impatiens are a garden bedding plant that needs little sun and flowers profusely and ceaselessly. I once read that they were a popular houseplant in Victorian times and decided to bring a few pretty ones in in the fall. They did very well with little care. If they get leggy just trim them back and they'll bush out and rebloom. They do need a little light inside but it doesn't have to be a super sunny window. They are very forgiving and if you forget to water them they will wilt dramatically to let you know and then make a miraculous recovery when watered. They are very inexpensive and come in many pretty colors. The tiny sets you buy will turn into a bushy little plant so you really do get a lot of bang for your buck. As you can tell I'm very fond of them. I'm sorry to say that they do not bear fruit, however their ripe seed pods are alot of fun to pop which is where one of their common names, Touch-me-not, comes from. Here's a link with a bunch of pictures, in case you aren't sure what they look like.Have fun!

Reply:They have small orange trees but they take alot of light. If you want pretty flowers, no fruit and small space try some of the cactus orchids, take little or no care and they are beautiful.
Reply:Just about any type of flowers or dwarf fruit tree will grow in a south facing window. You will need to keep your summer air conditioning off of it. You can drape a curtain between the plants and your air conditioned room.c++
